These are some images from the 2008 Holmfirth Folk Festival (May 9-11) which is in the area I live, the Holme Valley. The area is the location for the BBC TV series “Last of the Summer Wine”. These pictures reflect the fun, life and energy of the festival. I enjoy the cultural aspects of the Holme Valley area and the festival is a fun time for the whole of the family. The images are from Holmfirth town centre, mainly near the Old Bridge Hotel, but also other areas. The Holmfirth Folk Festival is a fun weekend for visitor and locals alike, and the Morris Dancing a treat for all. It does seem however that a little too much emphasis is placed on drinking in the pubs, but everyone has a great time. Should anyone wish to use these images then please feel free to contact me (editor at high-orbit.co.uk) and I would be happy for them to be used with a credit to this site.
I am an amateur photographer who is looking to practise and sharpen my skills and would be happy to undertake most projects
